About 11 Mile Co

29 years of engineering experience, now helping solo owners and small businesses navigate AI integration, evaluate vendors, and make technology decisions they can trust.

My Story

After nearly three decades in software engineering leadership, I've learned that most small businesses don't need a full-time technical hire—they need someone they can call before they sign a contract, hire a freelancer, or buy a tool they don't fully understand.

I've also run a small business myself. I founded and ran 11 Mile Detail Co. hands-on—customer acquisition, pricing, scheduling, every hat a one-person business requires. I know what it's like to make a technology decision with real money on the line and no one technical to ask. That's the gap this fills.

Whether you're exploring AI integration, want a second opinion from a Fractional CTO, or growing your search visibility with SEO consulting, I bring practical expertise sized to a business your size. I've been the person making these decisions and living with the consequences—both good and bad.

Today, I run 11 Mile Co full-time, applying 29 years of engineering experience to help solo owners and small businesses make smart technology decisions without burning money or trust.

Why “11 Mile Co”?

The name comes from 11 Mile Corner in central Arizona—a place filled with fond childhood memories that shaped how I think about work and craftsmanship.

Growing up, I spent time with my grandpa on cotton farms near 11 Mile Corner. We'd visit Central Arizona Machinery, the John Deere dealer, to get parts and equipment. Working on the farm, surrounded by cotton fields and heavy machinery, I learned that quality work isn't about speed or cutting corners—it's about understanding the problem, using the right tools, and building something that lasts.

Those same principles guide my consulting work today. Whether it's choosing the right AI vendor, architecting a scalable system, or evaluating a startup's technical foundation, I bring the same attention to craftsmanship and long-term thinking that I learned working those Arizona cotton fields.

How I Work

Direct Communication
No corporate speak or consultant jargon. I'll tell you what I think, explain my reasoning, and give you the information you need to make good decisions.
Practical Focus
I'm not interested in theoretical solutions or industry buzzwords. Every recommendation is based on real-world experience and what actually works in production environments.
Your Success, Not My Hours
I'm focused on solving your problem, not maximizing billable hours. If something takes less time than expected, you benefit. If it takes more, we discuss scope adjustments upfront.
Long-term Thinking
Technology decisions have long consequences. I help you think through not just what solves today's problem, but what sets you up for sustainable growth without technical debt.
